Wadeye

Wadeye is a large remote Aboriginal community in the West Daly region of the Northern Territory, approximately 400 kilometres south‑west of Darwin. It is one of the largest remote communities in Australia and has a young and growing population, with strong cultural, family and ceremonial leadership across the community.

Wadeye joined the SCfC program in 2013. SCfC in Wadeye is guided by the Thamarrurr Aboriginal Women’s Council (TAWC), which undertakes the role of the SCfC Local Community Board. Thamarrurr Development Corporation (TDC) is the Facilitating Partner and works with the board and community to develop, deliver and coordinate activities under the SCfC Community Plan in line with local priorities.
