Atitjere / Engawala

Atitjere and Engawala are remote Aboriginal communities located along the Plenty Highway north‑east of Alice Springs. The communities have strong cultural leadership and connections across family, language and country, with a population spread between both sites.

The Plenty Highway communities joined the SCfC program in 2015. SCfC is guided by the Atitjere Decision Making Group and the Engawala Decision Making Group, which act as the local SCfC boards. Children’s Ground is the Facilitating Partner and works with both boards and communities to implement the SCfC Community Plan.
